Rental Policy

Key terms and conditions for renting a vehicle with Sellar.

Renters must be 21+ to rent a vehicle with Sellar. College students between 18 and 20 may be allowed to rent at Sellar’s discretion, subject to additional validation, higher deposits and an under-21 surcharge.

All renters must provide a valid government-issued driver’s license, a working phone number and email, and a payment method in their name. College student renters must also provide a valid student ID and any extra documentation requested by Sellar. Fraudulent or altered documents will result in cancellation.

A security deposit is required before any vehicle is released. The deposit amount depends on the vehicle class, rental duration and renter age. The deposit may be used to cover damages, late fees, tolls, tickets, cleaning fees, fuel differences and any other charges related to the rental. Chargebacks or payment disputes may result in account suspension and recovery actions.

Sellar does not provide full coverage insurance. Renters are responsible for ensuring they have valid insurance coverage where required by law. The renter is financially responsible for all damage to the vehicle, including collision, theft, glass, wheels, tires, interior damage and mechanical damage caused by negligence or misuse. If an insurance provider declines a claim, the renter remains fully responsible for payment.

The vehicle may not be used for ride-sharing, delivery services, racing, reckless driving, off-road use, transporting illegal substances, or by anyone who is not an authorized driver on the rental. Smoking inside the vehicle is not allowed. Any prohibited use may result in immediate termination of the rental, loss of deposit and additional fees.

Unless otherwise stated, rentals include unlimited miles within New Jersey. Driving outside of New Jersey without written approval from Sellar may result in additional fees or termination of the rental. Sellar reserves the right to limit miles on certain vehicles or rentals.

Renters are required to return the vehicle on or before the agreed time. A short grace period may be allowed, after which hourly or additional day charges may apply. Repeated late returns or failure to communicate delays may result in higher fees or account suspension.

Vehicles must be returned in reasonably clean condition. Excessive dirt, stains, spills, pet hair or odors may result in cleaning fees. Smoking inside the vehicle may result in a smoking fee and potential loss of deposit.

Renters are responsible for all tolls, parking tickets, traffic violations and any related penalties that occur during the rental period. Administrative fees may be added for processing each violation or toll notice received by Sellar after the rental.

Vehicles must be returned with the same level of fuel as at pickup, unless otherwise agreed. If the fuel level is lower at return, a refueling charge at the current market rate plus a service fee may apply.

In case of an accident or damage, the renter must contact local authorities if required and notify Sellar as soon as possible. Photos and details of the incident should be provided. Failure to report damage immediately may increase the renter’s financial responsibility.

Sellar vehicles may be equipped with GPS, mileage, and other telematics devices to help protect the vehicle and manage the rental. Tampering with or disabling these systems is strictly prohibited and may result in additional charges or legal action.

Sellar reserves the right to refuse, cancel or terminate any rental at its discretion, including in cases of suspected fraud, unsafe behavior, non-payment or violation of these policies.

By booking or operating a vehicle from Sellar, the renter agrees to all terms and conditions listed in this Rental Policy, on the rental agreement and on the Sellar website. These policies may be updated periodically, and the version in effect at the time of rental will apply.
